August 28, 2007: 2006 Production Data Production data for 2006 is now complete; all wells which produced in 2006 can now be searched.
Depth Search We have added a new search to the ESOGIS. Users may now search for wells by depth.

June 28, 2007: Smart Raster We have been working on all our scanned raster tiffs to create depth calibrated raster images.
DEC production reports We have made early DEC production reports available to everyone. These reports are from 1967 through 1996.

September 28, 2006: New Search Pages There are two new search pages, the first is the ability to search for all wells we currently have direction logs, and the second is the ability to view and search bore hole temperature of wells.
Increased project size Public Members now have the option of up to 500 wells for their projects.

July 18, 2006: 2005 Production Data Production data for 2005 is now complete, all wells which produced in 2005 can now be searched.
Quad Maps Along with well updates, we have added Quad Maps to our site, they can be accessed by well detail links for gold and platinum members.
Directional PDFs Directional Surveys as shown in Petra are now available for all of our current wells with directional logs.

Dec 6, 2005: Formation Top Search A new type of search has been added. The search allows you to look up specific formation tops, along with the ability to download all formation tops for that search as well.
Database and File update Well files and associated webfiles have been updated.

Nov 1, 2005: 2004 Production Data Production data for 2004 is now complete, all wells which produced in 2004 can now be searched.
Directional Surveys We have started to add some directional surveys for some wells.

Dec 9, 2004: Search by Well Type You can now search for wells with a specific log name. Two options for this search are available, one for entering in a key word and the other a scroll down bar.

Dec 8, 2004: Partial LAS Files Added partial LAS files to esogis, these files contain one full or part curve from the corresponding logs.

Oct 26, 2004: Nearby Wells Added a radius search option to well information that searches 1, 5, 10 or 15 miles from current well.

Oct 7, 2004: Well Request A "Request Well Data" button has been added to the well data page for each well. This will inform us of wells our members are interested in; we hope to work on those wells in a timely fashion.

September 1, 2004: Esogis Update We have now added the shallow well raster files to esogis, along with adding paper files for 6,000 more wells. Production data has been updated to include 2003. We have also made some NYSERDA Reports available for viewing and downloading. Over a 150 digital log suites have been added and some free for download.

January 5, 2004: Posters and Maps We have made available some of our poster and maps that have appeared at recent conferences. These are only available for download to ESOGIS members. Please contact us if you are not a member yet.

January 5, 2004: Improved Zip Utility Zip files are being created with a new utility that is more efficient than the old utility. There is a problem with the native zip tool in Windows XP. Usesrs of Windows XP need to get a zip utility such as WinZip to unzip these files. Please let us know if you find or hear of a fix for this bug.

October 8, 2003: Export wells to Petra You may now export your search results directly to Petra. If you are an ESOGIS member a file is created with all of the general well inormation, formation tops and production data where it is available. You can then import those wells directly into petra. We plan to do the same for GeoGraphix in the near future.

October 6, 2003: Addition of 'Various Dates' search You may now search for wells by permit, spud, completion, and release dates.

October 2, 2003: Planned TD added to permitted wells

September 16, 2003: Import list of wells to project You may add wells to your project by copying and pasting or typing a list of short api numbers into the 'Add List of Wells' box (accessible from main project page). This makes it easy to transfer wells from spreadsheets or exploration software to your ESOGIS wells projects.

August 27, 2003: Land/Tax Data for Steuben and Broome counties. You may enter a decimal degree location (within Steuben or Broome counties) and the nearest land parcels will be returned, Land Data Search. This information includes the tax code for the parcel. You may also choose to view the land/tax data from any of the wells that exist within Steuben or Broome counties.

This information is intended to be a reference and no guarantee is provided that the information is 100% correct. The reference data was collected in 2002. The data is derived from a point coverage, where each point represents the center of a parcel. This can cause parcels to be missed when they are very large and the center is far from the location being searched. However, this is not a common occurrence and the results have proven to be very good references. If this proves to be a useful tool we will continue to add more counties, so please send you comments.

August 26, 2003: Radius Search You may now search for wells within a certain radius of a location. Using the radius search link you can enter a latitude and longitude and select a radius. The result set will be all of the wells that fall within the specified radius.

August 25, 2003: Maps and Cross Sections. We now have available online some maps and cross sections that may be useful for exploring in New York. This is an area that will be growing continuously as we continue our work here at the New York State Museum.
